If you’re like me, you probably have a short attention span- so here is my “Elevator Pitch” for Geek Mediation:
What do you do? I’m a Conflict Engagement Specialist.
What the hell does that mean? I’m like a Jedi (without the cool robes, lightsaber or high Midi-chlorian count), a peacekeeper, who investigates the causes of conflict, facilitates difficult negotiations and mediates disputes when necessary.
Why would I need your help? Most companies, executives, managers and employees avoid or ignore conflict because it makes them extremely uncomfortable. I’m a little weird (I did just compare myself to a Jedi)- so I really enjoy the challenge of helping my clients identify and address potentially toxic situations.
How do you do that? Mostly, I help clients assess and manage unresolved conflict. They often ask me to evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of their current dispute resolution policies and procedures. I also help them develop and implement effective conflict management programs if inconsistencies or gaps are identified.
Who are your clients? Due to the confidential nature of my work (and my preference to avoid lawsuits for breaching NDA’s) I do not share the names of my clients. However, most of my clients fall into the following categories- startups, tech companies, social media companies, software/app & game developers, online publishing & advertising companies, foundations, transportation companies, restaurant & retail chains, entertainment companies and other organizations.
